Mplayer doesn't work from time to time.

I've installed mplayer from packman yesterday and it work in some kind of a funny way. Right after booting the computer it can open avi files and dvds and when I try it a bit later it sais "Error opening/initializing the selected video_out(-vo) device". Does anyone know how to fix it?

I get that on some video codecs. Try including -vo xv or even better add vo=xv,x11,sdl to /etc/mplayer.conf.
