As Chris indicated, the forum you chose is only for "Website Suggestions & Feedback". Your thread has been moved. Is there anything LQ could have done to make this more apparent to you (so we can avoid others making the same mistake in the future)?
Install a package called xmms-mp3. Search for the version that corresponds to your xmms version because most new versions won't work on RH9 without a lot of upgrading.
