Unhappy mp3 for xmms on fedora core2 X86_64

I want to play mp3 files, so i tried to install a plugi for xmms. Placed it into /usr/lib64/xmms/Input/ but when i started xmms i get an error.
It's probably because i use the 64bit version of FC2, but is there another way around to play mp3 files?
I'm getting really desperate because nothing seems to work.

i believe you have to install support, not just put a file in a specific location.
good luck.
