In the general forum there is a thread on how to install programs. You should find everything you need there thanks to trickykid.

Quote:

***The glib-cofig script installed by GLIB could not be found***If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in***your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the ***full path to glib-config

What distro are you using? Its much easier to install the rpm if possible.

You'll save yourself a lot of trouble if you download cd2 and cd3, both of these will contain almost every program you will need for day to day computing as precompiled mandrake 8 binaries in rpm format.
You may even want to consider downloading the latest mandrake 9.1 instead, 8.0 is rather old and may not support the new hardware well. If you only have a dialup connection you can often get burnt cd of linux distro's from your local LUG (Linux User Group).
