MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC

Fedora Core 3
On boot, I receive an error message similar to: MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC.

The computer is a dual=processor machine. System Monitor shows two CPU's working.

Part of my Kernel startup log is:

ENABLING IO-APIC IRQs
..TIMER: vector=0x31 pin1=2 pin2=0
..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
...trying to set up timer (IRQ0) through the 8259A ...
..... (found pin 0) ...works.

What causes this error and is there a solution to make this go away?

Thank you.

I have tried with various kernel parameters but I wasn't able to come up with a stable system. I solved the problem by disabling the cpufreq service. Now my systems is works fine with full acpi support.
I hope this will help. :)

I know this reply is years later but I only now saw this thread.

My experience has been that disabling the HPET table in the BIOS using CMOS setup gets rid of this problem.
