Mozilla Won't Download
I was running Mozilla 1.2 and whenever I went to an FTP site to download, I would get a blue screen and then nothing. I checked to make sure that my preferences had download manager checked, which it was, but had this problem.
So I had the brilliant idea that I would upgrade Mozilla to 1.5. So I issued the: rpm -Uvh mozilla-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-chat-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-debuginfo-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-devel-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-dom-inspector-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-js-debugger-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-mail-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-nspr-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-nspr-devel-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-nss-1.5-1.i386.rpm mozilla-nss-devel-1.5-1.i386.rpm and this is the output that I got back: Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:mozilla-nspr ########################################### [ 9%] 2:mozilla-nss ########################################### [ 18%] 3:mozilla ########################################### [ 27%] ln: `/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so': File exists error: %trigger(elise-browser-2.0-5) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 4:mozilla-nspr-devel ########################################### [ 36%] 5:mozilla-mail ########################################### [ 45%] 6:mozilla-chat ########################################### [ 55%] 7:mozilla-debuginfo ########################################### [ 64%] 8:mozilla-devel ########################################### [ 73%] 9:mozilla-dom-inspector ########################################### [ 82%] 10:mozilla-js-debugger ########################################### [ 91%] 11:mozilla-nss-devel ########################################### [100%] [root@mark-009044180163 Mozilla]# so, other than the plug in error, it seemed to install fine. I can, since I'm using it for entering this message, use it. however, when I go to download, Mozilla just closes. No messages, nothing, just disappears. So what am I doing wrong? Mark |
I am not sure what the problem is, but I know from experience that mozilla is much more reliable (and easier to install) if you do it from source. Go to the mozilla website and download the latest copy, see if that works
