Mozilla probs

I just installed RedHat 9.0. Whenever I click on the mozilla icon, nothing happens. When I invoke mozilla using the terminal window, nothing happens. /usr/bin/mozilla (where the Mozilla actually resides) is available. No indication at all in /var/log/messages

Anyone knows how this comes and how to solve it.

Thanks,

WiWa

Just an idea - try doing a strace on your mozilla - see what gives. (strace /usr/bin/mozilla), the last lines of strace output should give you why it is dying...

Thanks, however it does not seem to work.

strace /usr/bin/mozilla

=> strace: command not found;

Any other ideas? This is a fresh installed RH

How did you install Mozilla? Did you download it from mozilla.org or did you install it of the Redhat CD's?

I installed it of the RH CDs. I tried downloading the RPM from the web (Mozilla 1.3.1-0), but when doing rpm -U mozilla*, it complains that package mozilla-1.2.1-276 is already installed and that it is newer than 1.3.1-0 (which does not make sense to me), so that attempt failed as well.

Try '/usr/bin/strace' instead of just 'strace'. If that doesn't work try going to
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/9/en/....95-2.i386.rpm

download strace and then:

1. Open a terminal window
2. Login as root using the su command (just type su followed by <enter> and then root password followed by <enter>)
3. rpm -i strace-4.4.95-2.i386.rpm

After this you should have strace installed on your box. Do what I told you above and report the results...

perhaps the program is installed.. but is not in the PATH

$ updatedb
$ locate strace

if there is a program.. you must add the directory to your $PATH
$ PATH="directory_that_you_found_and_the_olders_that_you_can_see_with_echo_$PATH"
