Mozilla Firefox HELP!!!
 
Hi,

Downloaded and installed firefox, prob is that there is no sign of firefox anywhere!!! I double-clicked on the firefox-installer folder next to the bin folder. But, like I say there is no sign of firefox after installation! O/S is Mandrake 10.1

Tried again, recieved this message "segmentation default line 56"

What's all that about???

The installer most likely put the installation in the firefox-installer folder, but if not, you could try the /usr/local to see if it's there. If all else fails, search the computer for 'firefox.'

It been a while since I have installed Firefox but I do remember the install process being fairly good even as a noob, I would recommend running running the following as root as it may give you some more clues:-

#find / -name firefox* -print

Sorry I can't be of more help but I will have another look when I get home from work and if I find anything further I will let you know.

What exactly did you "try again?" Did you try running firefox when you got that error message? Or was it the installer that gave you that error?

Hi,

Firefox does seem to have installed but there is no sign of it as a web browser on my system. It's as if it has'nt completely installed.

Did you follow the steps on that link? I have been unable to install Firefox forever, but it now works because I did what was prescribed in the link.

command not recognised may be the result, so then try su'ing to root and trying again, if it starts, you'd need to change permissions on it.

once that's working, you can then (if, like me, you're using KDE), right click on an empty area of desktop and create new>file>link to application. When you get that dialogue box up, you call it whatever (probably firefox?:D ) click the icon and look through apps or whatever to find the firefox icon, then on the "application" tab, you just put "firefox" (no quotes) in the command box, and hit OK it should then (in theory) start from the icon!
