moving partitions and ghost
Hello,
I am going to install RH9, so I will try to configure sevceral partitions. I have read on topics that i could install new partitions on new Hard drives. But as I would like to install windows partitions, is it possible to: 1) move any linux partition on a hard drive? Will linux boot after? Is there anything to do with partitions table ? 2) use a tool that would allow me to ghost a linux partition, similar to the Norton Ghost utility for windows ? Thank you, X. |
Just with related topics, I just went at Partimage' web site, what seems to be a good answer to my second question.
Thanks to the good "organiztaion" of this site. Still need some help for my question "1)"! Xround. |
Yes you can move any linux partition but you will need to change the bootloader and /etc/fstab file to reflect the new partition locations as required.
Redhat uses partition labels and it will complain if it sees multiple labels with the same name. |
Thanks for your reply, MichaelK
That will help me for my forthcoming install. Cheers, Xround. |
