move files within ssh


After I open my shell and run

ssh -l amer <IP Here>

How can I move,cp files from my Box into my ssh account? I am not sure how to do that.

To my knowledge, ssh can't do that. The command you want is scp. It is part of the ssh set of applications. Check out the man page for details. It's almost exactly like the normal cp command.

Check out the manpages for "scp" and/or "sftp".

Instead of typing "ssh amerIP" type "sftp amerIP" to connect with sftp. Use commands ls and cd normally but with an extra "l" in front of commands meant for the local machine. Then use "get" and "put" for copying files and "quit" to quit.
