Mouse Scroll Wheel Operation

I recently installed Red Hat 8.0, including a two button PS2 mouse. Everything went exactly as it should, [new distros are getting easier to install all the time].

On the desktop [KDE or GNOME] the mouse scroll wheel works perfectly. However, when on line the scroll wheel becomes "inop" on a web page.

What AND where do I have to make a change to fix this ??
Remember I'm a "newbie" !!

what kernel are you on? i beleave i found a way to configure mine out of /etc/X11/XF86Config, atleast for the 2.4.x line of kernels, does not seem to work that way under 2.5.x/2.6.x though.

Oxagast,

Thanks for response.

RH 8.0 came 2.4.18-4 kernel. I will print out the link you posted.

I originally logged on internet with Win98/AOL because a lot of my Email is still on AOL. After looking at your link, I switched drives to Mandrake 9.0 and for some strange reason I can't bring up that link web page. Will have to go back to AOL to make printout.

FYI - I am using MDK 9.0 because scroll wheel DOES work here. Red Hat feels "very strange" not being able to scroll web pages.
