Unhappy Mouse artifact in Fedora 9

I have a Sony Vaio laptop and after installing Fedora 9 I have a small line that is attached to the mouse pointer. I cannot get rid of it but believe that I have to edit my xorg, conf file. I know how to edit the file but not the commands to use. Help please.

Install fedora 12.
does that seem offensive ?
It shouldn't.

Fedora 9 has no updates and never will have.

download the Fedora 12 DVD or CDs and burn it/them.

When you boot from it/them edit the kernel line from grub to add
Code:
linux upgradeany
then at least you will be dealing with something that is supported before you ask questions.

Do it now or risk problems later.
I upgraded from 9 to 12 with no major issues, I can't guarantee that will last forever.

If you have installed any major programs, you may have to uninstall and reinstall them after the upgrade. This will not affect the upgrade process.

i would not ever try doing a upgrade from fedora 9 to 12

THERE HAVE BEEN FAR TOO MANY CHANGES FOR THAT TO WORK!!!
use gparted and "blank the hard drive ( to unformatted) then let the fedora 12 install dvd format it to ext4

Well my system has been running fine since last year when I did the upgrade. Some non-free programs had to be uninstalled manually, then reinstalled, but other than that it was a breeze.

I don't use ext4, precisely because I would have had to reformat.

Please don't make pronouncements on something that I have already done without incident.
