Mouse and Modem

I have just installed a new Graphic Card 256Mb Nvidia GeForce 6600GT.

When I installed Mandriva Powerpack 2006 DVD into my machine, my mouse Logitech MX510 is connected to the usb and won't work but if it's connected to ps2 there is no problem.
How would I resolve this problem into using the mouse in the usb port. I need someone to explain to how to go into the root to resolve it.
I have a Sagem 800 USB modem I have to install eagleconnect to get it working, but when I go into Configuration to install it after doing a search and finding it tell me to load the dvd into my CDRW which is hdd0; (I also have a DVDRW and a DVDROMin my PC).
I need someone to explain to how to go into the root to change hdd0 to hdd2 if possible. (I would like to mention the CDRW is 1 Slave and DVDRW is 2 Master and DVD ROM is 2 Slave). Thank you.

normally you could change the /dev/### in your fstab.

typeing: su .. will put you into root (after entering your pw).

or: login .. will do it too. (just type in root).

good luck.
