Hello u all, wld like to know what to do in order to mount my winxp os in my redhat linux os. I tried editing my fstab file mounting my hda/hda1, I used ntfs, vfat file, none of it worked. When I used ntfs file, its told me my kernel does not support that file system. Need helo. Thanks

it is mounted you just do not know how to navigate it.
Red hat Is a paid for operating system. look here or just give your user the permission to read the partition. look at this actually redhat when you installed should have made all the steps happened. why not just use auto so it tries all formats.

If you're using Red Hat 9, as you suggested in one of your earlier threads, then please take the advice and install a newer distribution. Also, looking at your posting history suggests that you do not reply to your threads. Please do so, as people have been trying to help you and it's impolite to just ignore them.

With regards to the particular problem you're having:

1. Are you sure you're trying to mount the correct partition, i.e. are you sure it's /dev/hda1 for example and not something else?

2. Are you sure you're using the correct filesystem type, i.e. are you sure it's an NTFS partition rather than a FAT one?

3. Post your fstab, partition list (which you can get by running "fdisk -l") and any other error messages you get when trying to mount.
