mounting usb dvdburner
i searched around but dint find anything that i can use with my limited knowledge of the operating system. i want to mount my plextor px708uf2 usb dvd burner in slackware 10.2.
if i knew what the name of the usb drive was in /dev i think i wold be able to do it by adding /dev/(usb name) to fstab and using mount /mnt/usb. is that right?
any help is appreciated.
sorry if this is a dumb question.
Check the output of the console command dmesg to see if the burner is being recognized. A USB burner is typically /dev/scd0. If the device does not look like it is being recognized then all of SCSI modules may not be loading. Post the output of the command lsmod.
Try mounting the drive via device /dev/sr0.
However, I do not see usbcore, scsi_mod nor sr_mod modules loading.
Do have any other USB devices like flash disks?
