Mounting USB drives fail in GUI but mount through shell access.

I have a question.

Why will a 3.0TB USB drive fail to mount for the GUI but mount and is accessable via the terminal access?

I can access it once mounted through a shell and MC but it fails to mount on the GUI.

"Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume" is what is reported but it is mounted.

I see some Google results that relate but nothing I can discern as the solution.

RHEL6

EDIT:
Actually mounting any drive does this.
I have two media drives and a USB drive.. All fail under GUI but mount otherwise.

What distro are you using, and what file manager/program are you using to try to mount your device? This sort of error may be one out of a few things; Are you getting any other messages in your /var/log/messages file?

Indeed that is the issue.

Having permissions for root on those files will mount under the CLI but will complain under the GUI and not be available via GUI.

Thanks
