Mounting flashdrives automatically: How to do it?

Hello!

I installed Debian Wheezy 7.1 with OpenBox and Nautilus and others things, but not Gnome and i would like to know on thing. Is there an app, daemon maybe, or other thing that stays in "standby" for mounting of flashdrives or usb dvd drives and make them totally avaliable for me automatically?

When i install Gnome he does that, i don't know how. Is just i connect my flashdrive or dvd drive and he mounts and makes them totally available for me automatically in Nautilus. But as a didn't install Gnome i have to do this always manually. That's boring!

Thank you!

consolekit in SUSE 10.3 is one the services that I know is involved in things like this on that distribution. A brief google search suggests that the consolekit service also exists in your Debian Wheezy 7.1 as well.

yes there usually is some kind of daemon, and often it comes with the file manager.
nautilus should have that capability too (maybe you have to install some dependencies/recommends).
thunar definitely has it.
