mounting digital camera

Quick question. If I add a line in fstab to mount my digital camera but the camera isn't connected what happens when I do connect it? Will it have to be mounted manually at that point? Or is the /dev mounted and will just need a 'refresh'.

Anybody?

No you'll get an error, that the file system could not be mounted. If you like to connect your digital camera to your machine, you'll need to mount the file-system manually or put in in fstab, but with the noauto option, which means it will not be automatically mounted at boot.

Hope this helps,

Ok. I was just wondering. It isn't very difficult to mount, just a quick command of course, but I thought I'd take a stab at saving a few keystrokes.

I guess it would be simple enough to create an icon or a quick command line that would mount it for me....

I'm lazy :)

/me to ;) Heh if you add an entry in your fstab, with the noauto option, it should appear in your rightmouse button menu (gnome) together with all other possible mount points e.q. floppy etc ...BTW do not forget to add user rights to fstab (so all users will be able to mount the device)

Hope this helps,
