mounting a drive, but not that straightfoward

Bacially I've been using linux less recently, and converted one of my drives from FAT32 to NTFS. However linux can't find the drive now. Also it doesn't display my dvd player.

In the case of the hard drive, I tried mounting it with Yast partitioner, but it refuses to hold the changes.

I have no clue what to do with the DVD drive.

I tried $ unmount command, but didn't recognize it. What do I do? (Using Suse)

Hi,

I used to have a similar issue, but I don't know if it'll work for you. I also need more information: what drive did you convert to NTFS (a partition on your hard drive, an external hard drive, etc...); when you mean "doesn't display your CD player", do you mean that when you put a CD-ROM (data/music/what?) into the CD drive it doesn't mount onto your desktop? Please be more precise. Thanks,

[EDIT]

What version of SuSE are you using?

I'm using Suse 8.2.

As far as the CD player, I should have written DVD Drive. Yes it does not seem to mount. Thanks.

O.k...try this quickly:
Quote:
# su
# Passwd: ******
$ mount -a
That usually mounts everything. Please tell me if that doesn't work (this is to mount your DVD drive's contents).

The reason that you can't see the NTFS drive is that I don't think SuSE has NTFS read capability. There is an NTFS-linux Project on Sourceforge which I think may work, but I've never tried it before (I assume it will).
