mounted win partition: permission probl in win?

Hello,

When I launch Explorer in Win98SE a window opens in the bottom bar of which some information is displayed: number of objects, number of KB, and a new thing: "Sensitive sites" (? this may not be the adequate translation of my French version of windoz "Sites sensibles").

Which means I can't copy any file to any other folder though I can delete any file.

I installed spywareblaster some time ago so I uninstalled it thinking it might be responsible for too much protection. I also have SpybotSD, so I disabled some options, then uninstalled it, to no avail.

I ran my updated f-prot antivirus, ran SpybotSD after reinstall, and hijackthis, all in vain. Nothing looks wrong.

Now could that be a permission problem that would seep over to Windoz so to speak?

your help would be most welcome!

Isn't this site called LINUX questions? ; )

any way, Win98SE doesn't really use file permissions so it can't be that, and the 'SIte Sensible' makes me think that it could be Internet Explorer that is causing you your problems.
It might be an idea to check out the advanced settings in IE 'Trusted Zone' etc ( I haven't got a windoze box at home so I can't check)

If its not that the only other thing similar that I have encountered was in Win2K. Cut, Copy, Paste & "drag and drop" didn't work because the RPC service wasn't running

hope this helps.

Sorry about that, I only asked in connection with Linux, many people having dual boot apparently.

I didn't install IE -- thanks to 98Lite, but of course some IE stuff is still wickedly active in the background.

Many thanks for your suggestion!

Okay, skunkburner

But the truth is I'm eager to get rid of dual boot and switch to Linux only, only a few things are still holding me back, but I'm not far from the goal...

Cheers
