Do i have to mount and unmount the floppy drive for each disk, or can i mount once and take the disk out, put the next one in, do whatever and then unmount?

It's possible to forgot about mounting at all. The mechanism is called automount.

You need to mount and unmount for each floppy disk. Unmounting a disk makes sure everything is written to it before it is removed. If you don't unmount the disk, it will probably make the disk unreadable.

It's even worse. If you forgot to unmount and log out, other users will not be able to do this (root will, of course).

If you're using MSDOS floppies, then you could use the mtools, such as mdir, mcopy, etc which don't require mounting. Useful incase you forget to unmount them, like myself.
