Not sure I follow the question...

You currently have /boot / and swap and are wondering if during an install whether your distro will find these and use them correctly or not? You should have the opportunity during the install to choose your mount points (/boot / are mount points) for your devices (/dev/hda3 and /dev/hda2 are devices), and at that point, or near it, is where you should find the option to format those devices at that same time (you can choose the filesystem too should you wish to change... probably not though).
