Mount an image drive with permissions to edit.

Well, I have a img with a FAT file-system, once it is mounted I don't have permission to edit it and have to use sudo. Whenever I try to edit the permissions to the directory (with or without sudo) I get a "Operation Not Permitted" error.

How do I make it so I can edit the directory?

How did you mount it and what do the permissions show?

Sudo mount ./data.img ./folder
And I tried chown (and chmod) for permissions.

The permissions show it as root owning it. It won't let me mount withought sudo
