mount a hdd in linux that has windows on it

hi all,

im currently running suse 11.0 64bit edition on a 40gb eide hdd.

my question is i want to know how to access my data on a sata hdd 80gb that has windows vista on it. i have connected to my pc and when i click on my computer in linux i dont see it. when i go to yast and look at my partition information it is set as /dev/sdb1.

i was trying to get ntfs-3g to work but i dont know exactly how to use it. can anyone solve this simple issue for me? thanks so much

I am not familiar with the basics of SUSE, but generally you need the ntfs-3g package, and the fuse package. Once you have those installed, you should be able to mount the drive as you would any other (i.e. with the proper entry in the /etc/fstab file . My entry for mounting my windoze partition is:

Code:
/dev/sda7 /Bigshare ntfs-3g umask=000 1 0
I hope that helps.

ntfs-3g can be used as the file system type argument in the mount command. Of course you need to have ntfs-3g installed on your system.
Code:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
