Most commonly used commands

I've never come across a good list of all the available (or simply the most commonly used) commands in linux. This was one of my biggest problems as a complete newb who just jumped right in, although I have become more knowledgeable now. Is there a list somewhere that explains the most commonly used commands in terms that a newbie could understand?

Searched it with www.google.com/linux .

robogymnast,

I was looking the other day for something similar. This is a list of 687 linux commands and I believe each one has an
example.

Go here and I hope this is what you'rre looking for:

Cheers.

Open a console and type three times <tab> -- at your own risk ;) :D :p.

There are in excess of 20.000 commands / builtins (26.000?) if I remember correctly...
