Most Common Nvidia Problem

Hey hey,

Did you install Nvidia drivers ?
Made everything on what it says in README ?

But when you run X, you see some weird characters and your computer locks up ?

The solution is very simple,

Just Update your BIOS !

I was trying to install drivers for a week. But the solution was there in front of my eyes :)
By the way, i've learnt a lot about nvidia drivers...

thx dude!

1 question though - how do you update the BIOS?

Yeah, I tried to update my BIOS once, but it ruined my motherboard. :-(

Do you have any instructions?

Well, I updated my BIOS. I have a Shuttle AB48PN, but I updated the bios from Windows. Don't know how to do it from Linux. So if you dual-boot then you have a chance :). Just go to the official website of your motherboard, look for the BIOS update ( it will be a .exe of course :)) ), and just run it, and i hope you'll manage from there on, cause i can't explain you especially if you have a different motherboard than mine :P. After that reboot and voila, new BIOS is up and running. If it something happen and you screw it up :> then open your computer, and take out the BIOS battery, keep it out for few minutes, about 20 minutes to be sure, afterwards put it back and you'll have the default BIOS again. Good luck.
