More uninstalling and updating
1. How do I update a program that I'd installed using a "tar.gz" file?
Must I know the name of the "tar.gz"(the old name) that is still installed? If I expand the new version and it is installed over the old one? (Remember that the name of the new "tar.gz" is probably different of the old) 2. How do I totally remove a program that I'd installed using a "tar.gz"? Must I know the name of the "tar.gz" used to install it? Is there a way of discover the mentioned name? I'm wanting to update from Firefox 1.0.3 to Firefox 1.0.4... Ricardo Sao Paulo - SP |
Did you install from source or precompiled binary? The binary just dumps everything in one directoy. delete the directory. install new version make symlink in /usr/bin.
