more than one sound output on one sound card ? (SuSE9.1)

Hi i wonder if you can help
im a relative n00b running SuSE 9.1
i am trying to run enemy territory and skype/teamspeak.

YaST:
claims that my sound card is:
82801DB (1CH4) AC'94 Audio Controller

from my experiences in SuSE it appears that only one program at a time can use my sound card

does this mean anything to anyone ?
does anyone have any clues or suggestions ?

many thanks
Grifter

Instead of fussing with it just update to the latest suse (10.1) which seems to use multichannel sound a lot more easily.

You might take a look at JACK. http://jackaudio.org/

There is a host of JACK and ALSA utilities that work well together.

Alsa also has an ability to use software mixing.
