Monitoring an application

Hi guys,

I have an Impress presentation running in closed loop in my mother's shop and it keeps hanging for some reason which leads to constant SMSs from her telling the %"#%$#%"$% machine has hanged again.
Sometimes it just hangs the presentation, sometimes it freezes the whole OS.

This PC has a AMD Athlon 800, 512MB, 15GB Maxtor and a S3Trio3D AGP 4MB.

Do you have any idea? SW or HW?
Is it possible to log what is happening there?
Is it possible that the problem is the Impress itself?
Anything?

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest running memtest86 on the machine to make sure the memory is good. Can you log in to the machine remotely after the application is frozen? Are you sure the entire machine is freezing and not just X windows? A buggy application shouldn't ever freeze the whole machine (you never know though) which is hwy I suggested testing the memory.

I'm trying to burn the CD.
I extracted the contents of the ZIP file which is a ISO file containing a folder with 2 files: BOOT.CAP and MEMTEST.IMG. Then I used Nero to burn the ISO image but once I reboot the PC with this CD it asks for a bootable disk.
I think I'll go with the floppy version.

After running MEMTEST86, some memory errors at 30.7MB were found!
I'm going to change the memory modules and try again.
If after 24h running the presentation no error occurs I'll take that as an OK for the system. I'll also post a quick reply.
Thanks!

Problem found!
memtest86 works!
However I had to make a bootable floppy since it just doesn't work with the ISO image for the CD.
Thanks.
