monitor settings
 

Hello,

when installing RH 7.2 I put in the correct frequencies for my 17" monitor. But after start up I found out that the inmage doesn't fill the full screen.
I'm dear not put in higher frequencies than the manual of my monitor says. (I have the nasty habit of listening to warnings)
But I don't want to change the screen using the menu of my monitor either b/c then I would have to change them every time I reboot to Windhoze and back.

Could anyone give me an answer please?

ummm.. either change the settings on the monitor to stretch the display out so its normal or keep it like that.. yes, you are doing the safe thing in staying in your monitors specs..

You could find out what freqs Windows is using and restrict Xfree86 to just those or change windows to match X. Unless you have a fixed frequency monitor, X is probably using a different frequency in the range your monitor can handle than windows. Or if your monitor has the option of setting user settings on it, you can stretch the display out for X and use that to easily switch back for windows.

In windows 95 you had the advanced option to move and resize the screen in screen specifications advanced, W XP doesn't give that option anymore, how else could I change the windows settings to match X.
I will try to match the frequency thought, let's see whether that will help.
Unfortunately my monitor doesn't have the user settings options, that would really make life easier.
