monitor problem
To All:
I just got a new monitor for my desktop, but still been having monitor problems. I tried a few things. 1. When I boot up the desktop (no reinstall disk), after the bios screen comes, I get the boot-legger Xandros screen. Then it detects all the hardware fine, does some stuffs, and then blank out. I expect the login screen to show up next, but nothing happens. 2. When I boot up the desktop with the reinstall disk, after the bios screen comes and I get an "introduction" Xandros screen. It detects hardware fine, and then, blank out. I expect another blue screen asking for install options instead of a blank screen. 3. I tried booting the desktop with Knoppix 3.6. The monitor screen goes blank after initial setup. 4. I connected the monitor to my laptop (instead of the desktop). The Xandros boot-legger screen shows up for both monitor and laptop screen. After it detects hardware and other stuffs, the laptop screen moves on to the login screen, but the monitor screen is blank. After I login and do other stuffs, the laptop screen shows accordingly, but the monitor screen is blank. In all cases, the "lesser" screen is not showing. Case #4 is most disturbing where my laptop screen works, but the monitor's screen doesn't. Do I have a hardware problem (monitor's problem) or is there do the monitor has settings problem? Thanks in advance for any help. Sheng-Chieh |
hi there
when u get black out try this ctrl+alt+(+,-) ex ctrl+alt+ + or ctrl+alt+ - for a few no. of times may be u r dropped to a differnt screen, i too had faced a similar proble with xandros regards |
I narrow the monitor's problem abit further.
[It works except for Xandros.] I have been having trouble with this new Monitor, DAEWOO, 17" flat screen, model F257-A. This monitor "doesn't like" Xandros 2.0. I have dual-boot on this desktop. If boot into Window 2000, everything is nice. If I CD-boot Knoppix 3.6, everything is nice. If I boot into Xandros 2.0, it'll detects hardware, and then, blank out, instead of showing the expected login window. Also, I tried with the monitor connected to my laptop which has Xandros 2.0 only. Again, the monitor gives a nice Xandros screen, but blank out instead of giving the login screen. I suspect Xandros is not liking the new monitor and this might be a settings problem. While the computer is booting up (the Xandros screen after the bios screen), I can enter the mode (i.e., up, down, TAB) to set more hardware configuration before finishing booting. What command(s) do I need to try? Thanks in advance for any help. Sheng-Chieh |
