monitor is 42" led flat panel on hdmi, is this a bad way to start?

I've never used Linux before. I search the site before asking this question and found
nothing, so here goes...
Am I likely to have problems getting a picture from square one with my current setup?
Thanks,
Dave

getting a picture with hdmi

Providing you have a way (cable) to attach to the monitor and computer there should be no issues. You will need a DVI port and not RGB. However lots of converters are available to send RGB to and HDMI port .

Thanks so much for your time. One more quick question if you don't mind...

Would a break down of my hardware in my signature be of benefit to the people trying to help me?
Thanks
Dave
