Angry Monitor crashing

I have a newly installed Suse 9.0 with 2.4.21-166-athlon kernel amd have downloaded kernel source to match. I am running an Asus V9520 128mb graphics card with 5328 driver.

The problem I have is that when I access Sax2, whether in safemode or via KDE, my screen blacks out and I have to reboot. Even if I remove my graphics card and use the on-board card it still does the same. I have been into XF86config and altered the refresh rates but to no avail. I have run the same monitor on Suse 9.0 on my previous pc with no problem. The Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 720 is listed and I had no hitches.

Can anyone help? If I go via Yast and click on £Monitor & Graphics" it still blacks out. I am at my wits end with this one as I Linux is new to me, having only been using for 3 weeks. I have tried everything I can find among other threads but no joy.

Thanks in advance, David

well, i guess ur a bit screwed tehn eh? lol i sugest you jsut say screw it and dl the xfree86 source and compile that (takes some work cuse you have to hand make, or copy and edit a file to tell it what to comile and what not to compile), but it should be going to a black screen that jsut messed up, even with no suport from the kernel mine still when to the ceckered screen wioth a X shaped curser and crash a minute later ), just spend a day or so doing some reasearch with the xfree86 comile, then go ahead and try it (be sure to tell to that you have freetype2 and zlib alrdy installed cuse the font thingy in x is a peice of shit , jsut to be sure u reasearch im not telling you what to define to amke this do it (mainly cuse i 4got exacly what it was , as always i get seketcy when it comes to details )
