Moniter dies on startup for the "login" screen... Need to change moniter type, help?

Ok so I changed monitor types on the display or configuration or whatever it is! I switched from an Unprobed to a generic, now when I reboot, everything works up until the login screen where the screen suddenly dies. -_-

I can access a command line but ... I dun have a CLUE what to type in to recongifure my monitor type.

Pllleeaasseee help if you can, desperate @_@;

Thanks for your time.

Depending on your distro you will have to edit Xfree's or Xorg's configuration file.
On Gentoo and Fedora (anbd probably any distro using Xorg) it is /etc/X11/xorg.conf
