module uvcvideo does not exist in /proc/modules

Hi,

I am getting this following error when i try to do
sudo rmmod uvcvideo
sudo insmod ./uvcvideo.ko

ERROR: Module uvcvideo does not exist in /proc/modules

I even tried sudo modprobe ./uvcvideo.ko

However I did grep and found that it is located in below location..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 80636 2011-04-08 19:36 /lib/modules/2.6.32-31-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko

Please help me in resolving this issue.

Thanks all...

What is the version of your kernel?
Quote:
uname -a
Module information:
Quote:
modinfo ./uvcvideo.ko
This happened coz you attempted to remove a non-existent module.

ERROR: Module uvcvideo does not exist in /proc/modules
You can't use 'modprobe' for a kernel module in your local location. Also '.ko' won't go with 'modprobe' command.

Hi -

To successfully load the module, version magic of the module, in your case
Quote:
2.6.32-21-generic SMP mod_unload modversions 586
should match your kernel version "2.6.35.3-744-g27fdf7b"

Had you tried
Quote:
insmod ./uvcvideo.ko
and looked into last few lines of 'dmesg' output, you should have noticed some kernel warning.

Try
Quote:
insmod ./uvcvideo.ko
and paste the last few lines of the command
Quote:
dmesg

Thanks everyone I was able to run it now.
I saw #lsusb where the device was not getting recognized and later I mounted the device and then tried

sudo insmod ./uvcvideo.ko
