i have 2.6.2 and 2.4.22-8 kernel installed, i just wondering if I recompile 2.4.22-8 will it have effect on modules of 2.6.22 kernel. that means after compiling 2.4.22-8 and boots up 2.6.2, will modules have problems staring up and loading?

another question, i can't seem to get lsmod usb* working on 2.6.2 kernel.
it says module usb* not found. it works on 2.4.22-8.
lsusb shows all the right info, usb mice is working, usb memory stick is working, i just compiled and installed usb wireless driver, i just want to load it manually now. plugging the usb wireless client didn't do anything.

Part 1:
No, recompiling a kernel of a different version number should not effect any modules in the other kernel's directory. That would go for a 2.4.22-8 kernel and say a 2.4.22-9, they should not touch each other's module directories.

Part 2: lsmod should display your loaded modules, if you want to only show the modules with usb in the word, then a grep should suffice?:
lsmod | grep usb
