Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
As it says, try and see syslog or dmesg and it might give you some hints.

I'm scratching my head...

Tux,

Last night I was determined to get my Zip100 drive working and when I tried to modprobe ppa it gave me a similier message, so after running the command for the millionth time(and a little research), I decided to read dmesg.

To my surprise the was a message all about how no ppa drives were detected and some newer zip drive use the imm module. modprobe imm got the Zip drive working, without any hassle.

Dmesg is very useful for debugging hardware issues.:D

I did a dmesg and tail'd the /var/log/messages file. All I saw was two lines in each saying:

PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 00:13.0.
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin B of device 00:13.1.

do you have any pcmcia card in either slot a or b?

Yes, I have a card in each. One is an Airlink 10/100 card, and the other is a Linksys 10/100. I tried taking them out and running a "modprobe yenta_socket" again, and the output was the same.
