modem cant connect (log: Waiting for carrier)
 

Hi can anybody help me with this.... I used to connect to the internet with my modem which is Conexant Soft 56K, everything worked fine. After I shut down my computer without loging out my modem cannot connect to the internet. You could hear the dial tone and the dialing, but after a short pause it starts to give me short pings.
The log says: ( Waiting for carrier) , but after some time modem starts to redial and same thing happends again. I tried reinstalling my modem driver but that didn't make any difference.
I run SUSE 8.0 with 2.4.18

Did you put in the correct phone number? Username? Password? If you think you did, are you 100% sure? Is it possible your modem firmware was changed? or possibly modem settings changed?

Yes I am sure that username, pasword, phone # are all correct. Im not sure about modem settings thoug.

How do I check them?
