mobo/cpu question

This isn't really a linux question, still related to pcs though.

All of this is from my system board manual. My system board supports processors based on 200/266mhz (100mhz/133mhz DDR) and my athlon xp 2000+ (1667mhz) has a bus speed of 266mhz. I'm using ddr ram. My CPU bus speed should be set at 133mhz right?

But then the chipset specifications say it supports 200mhz/266mhz/333mhz (100/133/166mhz DDR) memory bus settings.

The reason I'm confused is because the processor specs supports athlon xps up to 2200+, but the chipset specs support 333mhz bus, which are only on 2700+ and up processors.

Anyone explain how the chipset specs differ from the processor specs?

i wouldnt know for sure but it is possible that the board was made before they had the specs for higher than the athlon 2200+ and so in truth could be compatible with the 2700+/2800+ and that the 333mhz bus was forward thinking, you might try searching for reviews on your mobo i know ive read a few reviews about mobos that support 333 but are actually slower with it than 266 because the support isnt fully there
