Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

i want to check a mms service, i have a mms link(mms://220.127.116.11:8082)that i want to write a script in linux to check that it work or not (its up or down), please help me, tanx.
Spell your words out.
And if you want to write a script, go ahead. We're not going to write it for you, but we'll be happy to HELP you with any problems you might have. I'd suggest starting by looking at the man pages for wget.
Again, SPELL OUT YOUR WORDS. And if you bothered to read the first reply I posted, I gave you the "command or program" to use in that.
my english is not good, i just wrote my script and i solve my problem, if you bothered to read my first thread i wrote, that i just dont know how to play a mms link, (do you know mms link?!!!), you suggested me to read wget man, wget is a utility for download from web, its not for mms links, i have not problem with download or get a program or source from web, i JUST DONT KNOW ANY PROGRAM FOR PLAYING MMS LINKS THAT I FINALLY FIND IT, MPLAYER IS A PROGRAM FOR PLAYING MMS LINKS, NOT WGET,
i solved my problem and i dont want any more help, thanks.
