You should be able to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 on it, as well as Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10

Since Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 can be installed, you should also be able to install the free CentOS 5

Red Hat 9 is very old, you should install a more recent linux distribution.

What raid card are you using? Also what boot up parameters are you using? You might want to pass say scsi2 or scsi3 to it. I think if you press F2 you will get a list of parameters to pass.

I do agree with ehawk, you really might want to look into using CentOS 5. It is the same as the current RHEL 5.1 server minus all the corprote logos. Even my RHCE book says to use centOS 5 for simulations as there are no to little differences between the two.
