mkisofs erro dvd image
Hi everybody!
I'm trying to make a DVD image(*.iso) with mkisofs program. I've typed mkisofs -o linux_dvd.iso /e/linux_stuff, and it's starts, but when it's at 80%, it stops and it saying :File size limit exceeded what am doing wrong? what is the problem? |
How big is the stuff in /e/linux_stuff? DVDs have a maximum capacity -- perhaps you are exceeding it?

but its seems to me that file size wouldnt matter here, cause he is creating the iso file on the hdd. if the hdd doesnt have enough space...that could be the problem. strycnine, check the hdd space left in your current directory. |
And check if your filesystem can hold an iso of that size. ext2/3 and reiserfs can just handle files < 2GB AFAIK.
|
Ext3 and Reiser have been able to support > 2 GB files for some time now. I just rm'ed a 35 GB file from one of our old RH9 file servers at work (filesystem is ext3) :D. Unless of course SuSE 10.1 turns off large file support for some reason...

Large file support needs to be compiled into the kernel. Perhaps the kernel supplied by the distro omits this? If so, just recompile the kernel.

I'm saving the iso file in a windows partition(FAT32), yes I have enought space on my hdd, and for linux paritions I have ext2 (but the thing is that I don't have enoughtspace). Linux stuff folder has 4.5 GB
|
fat32 file system has definitely a limitation in file size (4GB), so this might be the problem.
|
And ext2, ext3, what limitations has?
If I save my iso file on linux partition it gone work? |
true, fat32 can support only a size of maximum 4GB, where as ext2 and ext3 limit is 2TB. If you save it on your linux partition it should work for ya.
