I have recently installed fedora 8,whenever i login into KDE to for any of the windows may be Firefox or terminal the title bar is missing i.e the title bar does not comes,so i get stuck into moving the window or even minimizing the windows
kindly help me in this regard
Are you maybe using ComizFusion (have wobbly windows, window drop shadows, transparency and/or other eye-candy)? If that's the case, then it's very probably a problem with your gfx card drivers and/or CompizFusion. The only way I've found fixing it is updating to a later version and hoping that it works, or simply disabling Compiz effects. EDIT: in some cases, like Ubuntu, these may be called "Desktop effects".
Note that you can usually move windows without the title bar by pressing and holding ALT key, then grabbing the window with your mouse from any point (say in the middle, for example) and dragging it on the screen (ALT enables you to "catch" the window with your mouse). Minimizing could be done by pressing ALT+F9 if I'm right, and you could use ALT+(SHIFT+)TAB to switch between windows.
this is the closest post i could find that kind of relates to my problem.
I get the same issue where i cant see the menu bar. when i first turn the computer on, it shows whats loading and "ok"s what services have loaded. now im not sure if some of these not loading may be the problem but i know for sure the httpd doesnt load correctly (thats possibly a whole other issue) but anyways back to the subject.
I can log in, enter my password and whatnot. from that login screen, it takes AT LEAST 5-10mins for it to get past it. then i see my desktop. it shows the background pic but not icons yet. i wait another 5-10mins or so. then i start to see icons and then the menu bar shows up. now, its there like i see apps, places, system but not time or who's logged in. i try to click on it, nothing happens. i can right click the desktop and get a menu (like properties) so i know its not locked up. it wont let me click on that top menu.
after about another 5 mins, the menu ends up going away (along with the bar at the bottom to switch between desktops).
so.... ya im at a stand still and im not to bright when it comes to navigating in fedora 8. I DID try your suggestion above by trying the ALT + TAB and if i do open a window and minimize, it will swap back to that window. like if i hold alt tab, it shows like a little box at the bottom when it should show the folder name but ya, nothing behind the outline. is there a way to navigate through the folders to get to where i can re-launch the menu or something along those lines?
