Missing command

Hello community,
I'm just learning linux and I have a general question. What am I suppose to do when there's missing command in one distro but the commands are available in another distro? Can I just copy the command from one distro to the other and would it work? My guess is that I can't do this. For example, I'm learning all this linux stuff on virtual machines. I have Fedora core 5 and CentOS 5.3. The command lsusb is not available in Fedora but it is available on CentOS. This is just one example, but I've run into this situation many times.
