I have been trying to download KNOPPIX 5.3.1 from their website. Besides most of the links being of version 5.1 I have a problem with the few that have the 5.3 4gb version. When I hit to download the version the download screen report that 144 mb are being downloaded.This happens in all the links for 5.3.1 I have found so far. Can anyone tell me why is this and if they have been able to download knoppix 5.3.1 and from where? thank you in advance.(the version in the download area here is 5.1)

I can't recreate your problem. The Internet is a pretty big place and it's unlikely that I'd end up hitting the same mirror site you did. All I know is that this works:

ftp://ftp.ux0.de/pub/linux/knoppix/dvd/

I grabbed the EN version of the DVD, not the German one. No problems. I got that site off the official Knoppix mirror page.

What bowser are you using? I tried all the links from knopix home page and whenever I tried to download the dvd it says is 144mb (including the link you used).Thank you for your help

Copy the URL from the website, and use wget or curl to download the ISO.

I was using Firefox 3.01 under Fedora 9.

I tried wget and curl and got this

Nothing happened besides getting this output in terminal. Can you explain how do I use this "wget" and "curl" to get them download the KNOPPIX DVD? thank you

The link has an ellipses added into it. Do a right click and copy link location to get the actual link.

Something else worth mentioning...it is possible that when you tried a different link from another site, it tried to resume your original, incomplete/broken download of 144MB. Just a thought, incase you run into this in the future.

Verified the filesize of that ISO, as reported by wget, is 4,446,816,256 KB.

Thank you for all your help. I was downloading the file using IE . Once I used firefox all was ok and the download proceded without further problems.
