Mint 17.1-Unalbe to watch TCM OnDemand Movies in Fullscreen Mode (AMD7900 fglrx)
I have been trying to get TurnerClassicMovie site to play any movies/videos on my AMD equipped, proprietary drivers up to date. I can only make the movies show in the first small frame within FireFox 34-37 that i have tried.
I have installed flash and it is updated as well as pepperflashplugin-nonfree and all the other instructional posts i read either here or just via a google across all the Linux/Mint hits. at first , i was not even able to sign into the cable subscription page, once that got solved then it has taken a month worth of intermittent trying to finally figure out how to get the movie playing ,BUT-
as soon as i try to open the full screen, i get adobe Flash pop ups and then it all hangs. I hve begun to see Error 503 some kind of Apache problem a generic error from what i have found.also a cant Sync
I have tried to do something with the busy port -800, tried to add another port only because i read a post that might have had something to do with the issue. or maybe not. didnt work yet
I am just stuck with this.
I am able to play all other videos i want,it seems, you tube and all html5s. I got rid of Ntflx a year ago so never tried with that.
I am able to use my Win7x64 Ultimate firefox with no troubles at all
I tried to use chromium in MInt17.1 Mate with no luck at all, it just wont do a thing and kicks off about 10separate process as it does nothing.
I have a Xinerama on , no tear amd set up-chromium will not even draw any window under the title page on the bigger screen monitor-both of which are 1920x1080--forgot to mention that i have Wine 1.6 i think , updated , as well as pipe-light per other linux/mint how to forums

It might be that TurnerClassicMovie only supports a low streaming speed?
I seem to have troubles with a few kinds or types of full screen playback. MeTV videos do the same thing. something is off and a hack is needed or some kind of more advanced Linux terminal entries. I am hot on the trail
I have been able to do full screen for cnet videos and you tube, not TCM nor MetV though... I just, today may30, found an 'archlinux, page with some kind of advanced thing or other. i do not know much about this but am going to try it. have to write a gnome terminal or greek to me whatever. cant copy paste easily so, i have to type it properly as there are only 9 or so lines but 2 or 3 or them are only backward parenthesis , then figure out how to make it save and get out of it. no instructions beyond just the one entry , not how to open or close. i will figure it out , am trying to register there so i can reply to posts. though the only thing i found is over 2yrs old as it is. but seems to have a good potential.

fix for turner classic in Linux Mint 17.1 MATE
seems that I have been able to answer my own issue . I had to do a load of searching in ubuntu, here and noobslab pages to get silverlight, pipelight plug in and updated and then learn to unlock, then enable and then unlock/enable a different x64 version of flash. i had only done a enable flash as there were no indications that i needed to specify, after enabling flash to do the 64bit . common sense seemed to dictate ,so i gave it a shot , and , now, the flash or silverlight pipelight and wine all got coordinated, at least for now and i get the 2 most important (since youtube worked fine already) TCM.com movies on demand -need to be subscribed via cable co sign in. and METV for old tv reruns, for me The Saint, Roger Moore (sir now) from 62-66 now and maybe to 69. i the dvd disc collection but like it better on line for some odd reason. like the interaction maybe
will provide any details should anyone , other than me, want them upon request
thanks for anyone who wanted to help but didnt know. I will need to keep my eye on this terminal update situation. no idea how adobe flash is supported, not, i read. so, this may be transient-hope not though. made my day when it worked , then seamless click into full-screen with out a hitch

the key for me was finding the pipelight-plugin information and following the instructions provided at those sites. one was http://pipelight.net/cms/installation.html , and the other one was at nooblsab the page or address may change but http://www.noobslab.com/2014/04/pipe...ative-for.html worked as a start point
I have it in all my linux computers but find i need to go through the 'unlock' and 'enable' flash and x64-flash. i also enable and/or unlock shockwave and silverlight as well sometimes
I have been able to get tcm in full screen and on a second monitor as well. one i have the AMD proprietary driver and the other box is an older 4870 so use the xorg drivers which i find to be excellent and far less troublesome than the amd but more limited as far as 3d graphics and a couple of other things ,but just great for playing movies, videos and watching metv , youtube as well as turner classic movies
i hope this helps get you going in the right direction. i had also fooled around with another thing but only on one computer so, i guess it i snt necessary as the flash/pipelight movies play fine with and without and i forget the name of the addition anyway. dont want to add to any confusion either. i go through the flash enable if i run into the movie not playing or the spinning wheel inside the frame wont quit. works so far.

I always thought Silverlight was a Microsoft application to allow streaming with DRM to "work" on your machine.
I Wouldn't give it houseroom.
I might be wrong, but I have the impression that it's no longer being developed.
Wikipedia says
Quote:
Microsoft announced the end of life of Silverlight 5 in 2012. In 2013, Microsoft announced that they had ceased development of Silverlight except for patches and bugfixes. Silverlight is no longer supported in Chrome on OS X, while support for Silverlight in Chrome on all other operating systems was disabled by default in April 2015 and was removed completely in September 2015

Pipelight is a compatibility layer that allows NPAPI plugins designed for Windows to run on Linux. It is based on a modified version of Wine. It currently supports Silverlight, Flash Player, Unity 3D, and Widevine. There is experimental support for additional plugins such as Shockwave.

Make of that what you will.
I am sure what you say is correct. However there is the non microsoft version of silverlight or other. I just wanted to be able to watch turner classic movies in full screen and that is how i made it happen after a ton of mistakes, misfires or kernel mismatches. I can now. or as of 3days ago, watch youtube, MeTV cable and OTA tv station from NYC as well as TCM full screen and not. on the xserv drivers for my amd asus 5870 and the older yet 4670 gpu cards, in dual screen , full screen. and, I use the proprietary latest AMD drivers for the other box with a 7950 OC gpu. that was the toughest to work with for dual screen and pipelight flash/pipelight plugin silverlight , shockwave too. I have to keep up to date to see which ones i need to unlock or disable /enable along the way for different functions.it takes care of itself other wise. i know i need to unlock and re enable flash, x64flash wen see the spinning wheel inside the turner movies window. I never seem to have any issues with other video players.
I just cant recall the non silverlight version i have with the pipelight.: http://www.itworld.com/article/26978...ntu-14-04.html
but maybe this can help. I am a novice with linux and my explanation of what i do may not be totally accurate. I just know i made it work with lots of looking around and reading posts with answers, noobslab and linux questions and also ubuntu help . i had resurrected a couple of older machines with linux mint 17 which gave me plenty of places and space to just make mistakes if they happened and learn and still keep the newer machines benefiting along the way.
I hope this helps anyone who had the same issues i had despite my lack of expertise in the area
I also did install wine at one point more recently. i know wine is actively working in one machine

I am still very new using Linux-Mint 17.3 now, and have it on 3 machines one of which is a windows7 x64 pro dual boot set up. I tend to use the microsoft side for most turner on demand video with that machine.
i have a newer totally Linux Mint 17.3 machine and it is with the open source built in amd radeon drivers dual screens , no games though. movies and you tube flash and html5 work just fine as does turner movies on demand and streaming/live. no real issues.
I do make sure i open, unlock and enable the flash , flash x64 and shockwave before i try the turner movies. seems to avoid any issues. i need flash just to be able to sign in to TCM
it continues to be far more stable and reliable than the latest AMD proprietary drivers in the other dual boot computer with newer /more powerful Graphics card. as long as gaming isnt the priority , i am fine with the non proprietary drivers that come with Mint ,since i began using Linux about 15 or so months ago. only issues are or seem to be involving the proprietary amd drivers in my experiences.
