Minmalist chess game?

Hi everyone.

I have a brilliant install of Arch on an old laptop. Very minimalistic (Openbox) and I have very little installed. Its a very clean set up for a very low power laptop.

Can anyone suggest a very, very minimalist chess game? I installed pychess (which i use on my bigger fedora machines) but it uses 99% of the processor most of the time and overheats this poor laptop. Anyone have a link to a small minimalist chess game? (even a text gui would be fine, as long as I can see the board. im not good enough to play from notation)

Thanks all

Thanks so much.

On a side note: That is freakin' amazing! And strange to think about really.

Adobe Reader simply displays a document, but it's 150MB or bigger. This is a full chess game that was written in less than 2k. Truly inspiring.
