Minicom/PPP problem
Hi,
Am using minicom to dial in to my ISP. The modem (on com1) dials the number and gets connected. I go, Crtl+A and exit without resetting. Then i type pppd at the prompt.... However, my ppp connection fails!!!... I've logged the error messages from pppd . They are as follows:- pppd 2.4.1 started by root using interface ppp0 connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2 LCP: timeout sending config-requests connection terminated I've read through the manual entry for pppd and have noticed that there are some optional 'LCP ' related parameters there.....unfortunately, i do not quite undestand what LCP is in the first place...:) Someone please help???!!! .... regards, Mar4 |
What ditro are you using??
If you are using a gui which one?? :Pengy: |
Hi Joe,
would appreciate any help I can get here.....Using RH 8, kernel 2.4 . Desktop environment is Gnome...... I've even tried calling the modem directly : # pppd /dev/ttyS0 (after minicom dials in), but i still get the 'LCP' error. What is LCP and are there any specific files I need to edit to make this go away??..:). Thanks... Marcello |
Try using the Gnome pppd utility.( Not too familiar with Gnome but it probably has one) without minicom.
