migrate from one machine to a new one

Hi,

My employer has been so nice to give me a new HP NC6000 to replace my aging omnibook 6100.

I've just about finished installing mandrake 10 on the new laptop (sound isn't working yet but that's another story) and I was wondering what would be the best way to migrate. Should I simply copy my home directory and other data directories? Or are there additional things I shoul remember?

As long as everything you want is in your home directory that is all you will need to do.

Ok, tnx!

Well, except

You may just want to actually have a look at the contents of the folder. I did the same a while back and had some bizarre reactions from some .kde and Evolution setup files from the /home/-folder. I had installed both on the new system and the files from the previous system messed with the new one.

I backed up the . folders but kept them in a seperate location. I've configured evolution from scratch. Only problem I've run into so far is that I forgot to copy my signature script.
