messed up samba!
hi
i've messed up my samba server on my redhat 9 machine.
basically, the original installation worked, except that swat wasn't installed. i decided to install the latest complete version from the samba website.
i downloaded the samba 3.0.4 rpm package. when installing using the rpm -U procedure and error occured (can't remember what it was).
(filename samba-3.0.4-1_rh9.i386.rpm)
anyway, when i query the installation using rpm -qa |grep samba, gives:
redhat-config-samba-1.0.4-1
samba-3.0.4-1
then if i try to update using
rpm -U samba-3.0.4-1_rh9.i386.rpm
the error
package samba-3.0.4-1 is already installed
i've tried erasing it using
rpm -e samba-3.0.4-1_rh9.i386.rpm
but get the following error:
package samba-3.0.4-1_rh9.i386.rpm is not installed
I'm now stuck!
HELP
where do i now go
thanks
aman
